Bridgitt Zielke announced as next Girls Varsity Basketball Coach

The Kohler High School athletic department is excited to announce Bridgitt Zielke as the next head varsity girls basketball coach. Coach Zielke has a strong understanding of the game of basketball which garnered from not only her experience as a coach but also as a basketball player. She played on organized teams for more than twelve years including four years at Cuba City High School and four years on the varsity women’s basketball team at UW-Platteville. Bridgitt is no stranger to the Kohler girls basketball program, serving eight years as a dedicated Kohler Middle School girls basketball coach and four years as a Kohler girls youth basketball coach.

Kohler Athletic Director, Matt Zavada, states that “Coach Zielke will champion the girls of our basketball program, working to give them the positive experience that they need and deserve.” She will strive to be a coach/educator who will be sensitive to the player’s unique needs, listens well, provides support, and offers positive encouragement and reinforcement to keep players focused and motivated. Coach Zielke has also outlined her initial goals for the program, including:

  • Providing a positive learning experience

  • Establishing challenging, well organized practice sessions based on teaching the fundamentals of basketball

  • Working with the girls to set goals and committing to achieve goals

  • Inspiring girls to be involved in basketball and to reach their goals on and off the court

  • Fostering a culture of good sportsmanship, cooperation and responsibility

Coach Zielke is a Kohler resident who currently works at the Kohler Foundation as the program manager: planning, managing, and implementing the foundation’s major activities including the Distinguished Guest Series, community grants, scholarships, and Waelderhaus. Coach Zielke has also raised two children in Kohler, both participating in multiple sports throughout their school years. Her daughter Cecilia is currently competing at Case Western Reserve University on both of their NCAA Division 3 cross country and track teams, and Cooper is a current senior at Kohler High School, competing in football, basketball, and track. Coach Zielke states “I am excited about the opportunity to coach the Kohler High School girls varsity team. I am passionate about basketball and look forward to sharing my knowledge and love of the game with the girls.”
