The Kohler Fire Department has appointed Brandon McKnight as Lieutenant of the department’s hose company.
Brandon is a life-long Kohler resident and 2005 graduate of Kohler High School. He joined the Kohler Fire Department in January 2005 during his senior year of high school, following in the footsteps of his father, Greg, who was also a long-time member of the KFD.
After high school, Brandon enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a Medical Equipment Repair Technician with the 440th Medical Squadron in Milwaukee, WI, and has been assigned to units in Milwaukee, Pope AFB, NC, Fort Bragg, NC, Grissom AFB, IN, and Minneapolis, MN. He was activated in 2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and has participated in several missions providing healthcare to remote underserved communities, including in northern Alaska, Kodiak, AK, and Kauai, HI. Brandon continues to serve as an Air Force Reservist, and is presently a medic with the 934th Aeromedical Staging Squadron in Minneapolis, MN.
As a civilian, Brandon has been working since 2007 in the medical device industry, specializing in x-ray and radiation oncology equipment. His background includes work as a biomedical technician for Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, a field service engineer for Elekta Radiation Oncology Systems, and he is currently a biomedical engineer/defense contractor for the Defense Health Agency/DoD.
Brandon moved back to Kohler in 2012 with his partner, Sara, whom he met in Madison while attending college. Brandon and Sara have two kids, Henry and Shoshanna, who are 9 and 5 years old, respectively, and who both attend Kohler Elementary School. When he’s not working or volunteering with the KFD, Brandon enjoys traveling, reading, hunting, and cooking. He and his family enjoy making frequent trips to Green Lake, WI to visit his parents and spend time on the boat, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
