Media is reporting that President Biden is set to deliver a major address on Thursday regarding the next phase of the pandemic response, with kids returning to school being a big priority. Details are still being finalized, but Biden is expected to lay out a “robust” six-pronged strategy, working across the public and private sectors to stop the spread of the Delta variant and boost vaccinations.
There are still certain limitations on what the government can do, so a broad national vaccine mandate is not expected to be announced. Dr. Anthony Fauci said the best way to protect young, unvaccinated children, is to surround them with vaccinated people — be it friends, family, school teachers, and school personnel.
The U.S. has logged more than 4 million Covid-19 cases in just the past four weeks.
